{"id":8333,"date":"2020-05-14T10:07:56","date_gmt":"2020-05-14T17:07:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/higgslaw.local\/?p=8333"},"modified":"2020-05-14T10:07:56","modified_gmt":"2020-05-14T17:07:56","slug":"california-privacy-right-act-collects-necessary-signatures-for-november-2020-ballot-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/higgslaw.com\/california-privacy-right-act-collects-necessary-signatures-for-november-2020-ballot-initiative\/","title":{"rendered":"California Privacy Right Act Collects Necessary Signatures for November 2020 Ballot Initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On May 4, 2020, the Californians for Consumer Privacy Rights group reported the collection of over 900,000 signatures to qualify the proposed California Consumer Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) for the November 2020 ballot.\u00a0 If the CPRA is ultimately approved, it will amend the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) to add and expand privacy rights and obligations to California consumers.\u00a0 The following are some noteworthy provisions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Creation of a new category of \u201csensitive personal information.\u201d<\/strong> Sensitive personal information includes Social Security Numbers, driver\u2019s license numbers, financial account information, precise geolocation, and biometric information.
