{"id":4955,"date":"2018-04-10T11:55:59","date_gmt":"2018-04-10T18:55:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/higgslaw.local\/?p=4955"},"modified":"2019-06-06T14:35:08","modified_gmt":"2019-06-06T21:35:08","slug":"higgs-fletcher-mack-awards-4000-diversity-scholarship-california-western-school-law-student","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/higgslaw.com\/higgs-fletcher-mack-awards-4000-diversity-scholarship-california-western-school-law-student\/","title":{"rendered":"Higgs Fletcher &#038; Mack Awards $4,000 Diversity Scholarship to California Western School of Law Student"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>San Diego \u2013 April 10, 2018 \u2013 Higgs Fletcher &amp; Mack (HFM), one of San Diego\u2019s premier business law firms, announced it awarded its sixth California Western School of Law Diversity Scholarship to Taylor McElroy.<\/p>\n<p>A 2018, Juris Doctor candidate, Taylor McElroy was selected for demonstrating exceptional perseverance, excellent academic and civic leadership.<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4956\" src=\"https:\/\/higgslaw.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Taylor-Scholar-cropped.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"528\" height=\"393\" \/>\n<p><em>(left) HFM Attorney Rahil Swigart, (middle) Taylor McElroy, (right) HFM Partner Susan Hack <\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a firm, Higgs is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion through education,\u201d said Rahil Swigart, Higgs Fletcher &amp; Mack Diversity Committee member and California Western School of Law alum. \u201cWe have offered this scholarship to local law students since 2013, made possible by the generous contributions from several of our attorneys and the firm.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McElroy overcame a number of personal and family challenges to make the Dean\u2019s List at San Francisco State, where she graduated with a B.A, <em>summa cum laude, <\/em>in Communications and Criminal Justice. At California Western, she is in the top seven percent of her class and serves as the Diversity Officer for the university\u2019s American Constitution Society. She also tutors students in Property and Tort law through the Academic Achievement Office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis scholarship will help me keep a promise I made to my family,\u201d said McElroy. \u201cIt will help me finish law school and fulfill my dream of becoming an attorney.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">###<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>San Diego \u2013 April 10, 2018 \u2013 Higgs Fletcher &amp;
